Advantages: Great suspense, real cliffhangers

Disadvantages: a bit odd - sometimes scary

When Twin peaks first was shown, it began with a slightly weird sinister plot line, with the dead body of Laura Palmer being washed up wrapped in plastic and the subsequent FBI investigation. Along with lots of different sub-plots and characters some providing comic relief and others more serious. As the shows progressed, in the first series, it really drew you in and had a really sinister undertone which was like nothing else at the time. I recall shows such as LA Law and NYPD Blue being around at the same time and although I used to enjoy these, Twin Peaks kept me coming back for different reasons.

It was partially a murder mystery, part horror, suspense, thriller and light hearted at times. David Lynch made a surreal masterpeice here, but also gave consideration to amazing location, scenery and storyline. The music by Angelo Badalentini is brilliant and has a haunting quality to it.

The first series left me with loads of questions and I really wanted to know more about the characters, but the second series seemed to go off the rails a bit with some soap opera style silly sub plots that really left the original feel of the show behind.

The very end of the show, seemed to get back on track but was really weird and even scary. It just left me hanging, wanting more. I had so many unanswered questions.

This review concerntrated on my opinion of the show as it was transmitted on TV. I have since been able to get a DVD Box set, which answers a lot of my Questions and fills the gaps, so I shall be doing a fuller review of that as a seperate product.

After twin peaks finished, there was nothing really like it on TV until Lost came along. Lost brought back loads of memories about Twin Peaks as I wanted to tune in each week for the bizarre story line. If you liked lost, then you'll like Twin Peaks.

Great show, really kept me wanting more between espisodes.

Summary: Nothing else like it. Watch the whole series
