Ugly Betty is probably one of the most successful sitcoms to come from America for a long time. It tells the story of Betty Suarez (America Ferrera). Betty is a shy girl from Queens, always the last to be picked for teams at high school, not very socially equipped and definately lacking in self confidence. Only now, she finds herself working for Mode Magazine as personal assistant to editor in cheif, Daniel Meade (Eric Mabius). As the title of the show indicates, Betty Suarez is definately not the most fashoin concious person in America but she does happen to have a passion for writing, hense working for a popular fashion magazine.

Here are some of the main characters that feature in Ugly Betty:

Amanda Tanen (Becki Newton) Amanda is the receptionist that works at Mode headquarters. Her partner in crime is Mark. She is a funny character but certainly thinks she is a lot better than Betty.

Claire Meade (Judith Light) Claire Meade is Daniel and Alexis' mother. She features in quite a lot of episodes and is an alchoholic.

Wilhelmina Slater (Vanessa Williams) Wilhemina is the evil mastermind that is trying to take over Mode Magazine. Scheming character but has her funny moments.

Marc St. James (Michael Urie) Marc is Wilhemina's camp assistant. He tends to annoy quite a few people, he is Amanda's best friend.

Christina McKinney (Ashley Jensen) Christina is the Scottish seamstress at Mode. She is Betty's best friend.

Hilda Suarez (Ana Ortiz) Hilda is Betty's sister and is the exact opposite of Betty. Very fashion concious and glam.

Ignacio Suarez (Tony Plana) Betty and Hilda's dad, great cook, worries a lot.

Justin Suarez (Mark Indelicato) Justin is Hilda's son he loves anything to do with dancing or performing.

I love this show and can't wait for the next series, the last one was great!
