Advantages: Mildly entertaining & Paxman

Disadvantages: Students can be irritating

University Challenge is a quiz show for students at university to compete in, funnily enough! It's made up of 2 teams of 4 students per show who gain points for answering questions right, the team with the most points progresses to the next round. The knock-out style continues until only 2 teams remain to battle it out in the final.

A 'starter for ten' (ten points) is asked and the team that buzzes in with the correct answer then gets to answer 3 more questions on the same subject as the 'starter for ten'. Each of the 3 suplimentary questions are worth 5 points each.

The show used to be hosted by the strangley named Bamber Gascoigne, but is now hosted by Jeremy Paxman. He makes a good host, but gets very impatient if the teams take too long to answer, and can be a bit smug and condescending at times.

The contestants can be a bit irritating too, and a lot of them are very posh. Some look like they've spend too long in the library and not long enough in the student's union having fun!

The questions are usually too tough for me, but I sometimes get about 5 correct answers per show.

Summary: High brow university based quiz

Good basic review on UC, I once auditioned for my University Team but that only went to exhibit how much I didn't know!

I tend to ignore this because it only goes to highlight how thick I really am.
