"Ooh that's tart"

I can't remember exactly when I first lay witness to Vic Reeves Big Night Out. I remember a friend being surprised I had not seen it, the same man who addicted me to Viz for 20 years and ongoing.
So at some point I must have sat down and watched it (I'm reminded of the Abba song "The Day Before You Came" here) and to this day I have never failed to tire of it or think it dated. I viewed comedy so differently after this...it was such a formative experience.

Be very sure this is Marmite material...you will either love it or hate it. You HAVE to be on a wavelength of the same sense of humour to get it...it's that radical.

Whilst the feeling is they are making it up as they go along, the format is quite structured and the sense of planning that has gone into the chaos is certainly there. You cannot describe this series, it just simply moves comedy along in a way Monty Python did...and as such is a landmark TV event.

I had high hopes for Vic and Bob...but they never did hit the heights of this series ever again in any of the vehicles they masterminded...be it Smell of Reeves and Mortimer or Shooting Stars, none of it is as wonderful as this.

2 series and a Christmas special was all we got, the format came from the late 80's comedy club circuit where this lovely material was born...and for me, and I know so many others this is one of the funniest comedy series ever made.

But you may buy this as a result of what I've just said. and sit stony faced utterly bemused. Never mind....keep watching it and Mr Wobbly Hand may just grow on you.

I simply will not discuss the contents of the 13 episodes, as to do so is to ruin the beauty of the anarchic humour. Because if you are watching it for the first time, and if you are like me you will love it so much that 19 years after watching it for the first time you will be running through the catchphrases time and time again.

You'll be laughing at the absurdity, the bizarre jokes and outrageous humour for many years....and no hyperbole involved here!

Because if you don't like it I really won't let it lie.
You wouldn't let it lie??
I would have let it lie!!!

"Oh, I've fallen..."
