Advantages: Funny even if you have seen it before

Disadvantages: Not enough programmes made in the series

Dawn French stars in this comedy as the Vicar of Dibley. The scripts are very funny but the actors add something special to the way the comedy is delivered, particularly Alice who never understands anything!. They are all very good at playing their particular roles.

My personal favourite is the episode where the Church Committee is discussing what each one should give up for lent. It is decided that the Vicar should give up chocolate. Dawn French's expressions as she goes through temptation are hilarious.

At the end of each episode the Vicar tells Alice a joke and, of course, it falls on stoney ground. Alice, true to form, doesn't get it. The Vicar has to explain!

Light and often very subtle humour. Worth watching again if you have already seen the series.

Being a chocoholic myself, I couldn't give it up for lent (or anytime!) either. A classic series.

Really your favourite episode or just the one shown on UK gold the night you wrote your opinion!! I love this show, though I think it is probably good that they didn't make too many episodes as there must be limited situations for them, and there is nothing worse than when they ruin a show by squeezing it dry.
I think the one with Dibley Radio is my favourite.
Good op.
