'Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea' is another 60s series from Irwin Allen, who also created 'Lost in Space', 'The Time Tunnel' and 'Land of the Giants'. The series starred Richard Basehart as Admiral Nelson and David Hedison as Captain Crane (who later went on to play Felix Leiter in two James Bond films, Live and Let Die and Licence to Kill). It was about a futuristic submarine, the Seaview, designed by Nelson and used as both a research and miltary vessel. The show lasted 4 seasons (between 1964 and 68), and was originally based on a film of the same name. The stories were more realistic at first but later on veered to sci-fi.I distinctly remember watching it during the 80s on Channel 4 Sunday mornings and thoroughly enjoying it. The Seaview also had this neat little shuttle craft that was capable of both flight and travelling underwater. :) Its perhaps less enjoyable than, say, 'Lost in Space', but still well worth watching :)
