Advantages: Funny at times and the celeb specials are good

Disadvantages: Jokes wearing thin and the general public shows are predictable

If ever a program has had its run it has to be 'The Weakest Link'. I used to be a big fan of the show when it first started but things have started to get a bit too familiar for me and I believe that Anne Robinson is losing her impact as an 'Ice Queen' hostess.

When 'The Weakest Link' first hit our screens, I was as shocked as everyone else was at just how frank and to the point Anne Robinson actually was. Sure a lot of it was for the benefit of the viewers and created some much needed sharp comedy in what is essentially a simple ask and answer the question quiz show. There can be no doubt that Anne is the star of the show, but even she has a shelf life and I think she has hit that now, infact she hit it maybe 3 years ago. Yes, she is still funny at times, but there are only so many ways of cleverly telling someone they are stupid... goodbye!.

The format of the quiz itself was quite unique at the time of conception and I really liked it, so much so that I tried to get on there after a couple of years, but failed miserably. I like the tactical element that is rarely used, but should be. I would love to see more people try to get rid of the strongest link with the aim of trying to win, albeit a smaller pot at the end. Still, the producers must have something right as it is still going strong to this day.

Perhaps if the general public shows have become stale and predictable, it should be said in the shows favour that the celebrity episodes are so much better and more entertaining. It is good to see just how clever these people are and I particularly enjoyed the Doctor Who special a couple of week ago that saw John Barrowman and David Tennant go head to head and ultimately proved that both are not that bright. Anne was quick to tell them.

These special shows have helped to keep the program going strong for as long as it has but I feel the time is about right for it to say goodbye and maybe do the odd one off special at Christmas.

Summary: Time to give something else a go
