Advantages: Easy to watch
Disadvantages: Anne's quips are quite predictable
It is amazing to think that this show has been going for so long now. In fact, it has actually been going that long, that the joke expression, "You are the weakest link" has become redundant in modern society, and you will most likely be ridiculed should you ever use it!
The show's basic premise as a gameshow, is that a 'team' of contestants work together to build up as big a cash pot as possible in the time available, by answering chains of questions correctly - the longer the chain, the more money awarded, up to £1000 each round, but only if 'banked'. If the chain is broken, the chain returns to £0.
At the end of each round, the contestants have to vote for who they thought was the weakest player, who will then have to take 'the walk of shame', and leave the game. Later in the game, savvy contestants might vote for their strongest opponent, so that they do not have to face them in the final round, when two players play against each other to take the prizefund home as their own.
The show is one of those where you will find yourself houting the answers at the tv, and groaning where they get them wrong. It is one of those programmes that is easy on the eye and ear, and you can have on in the background whie doing something else - I only ever really watch it now while at the gym, and it helps to pass the time.
Anne Robinson, the presenter, puts herself across as the wife of Satan, or something similar, but more often than not, you will find that contestants can break her, and have her laughing.
Occasionally there are charity episodes featuring celebrities, and these are the episodes where sometimes the strictness of the show is broken, and the audience can be heard laughing, and the celebrity contestants will do their best to crack Anne up.
A simple gameshow, that doesn't do anything special, and is easy to watch.
Summary: A gameshow that won't stretch you to watch
