The weakest link is yet another quiz show on television these days, but with a more unique layout. The show has been on air since 14th August 2000 and seems to still be going as well as it started. In fact there are now dozens of shows in countries all over the world.
The quiz show starts off with nine contestants who are position at their own desk in a semi-circle area with Ann Robinson, the quiz host, in the centre with the questions at the ready. The clock starts ticking and each contestant has a question one at a time going across the semi-circle then back to the start again. Along the side of the screen is a tower of multiples of money. Each correct answers raises the tower up a level, however a single incorrect answer puts it back to the very beginning again. In order to get money at the end, during each round a play can say 'bank' which means any money accumulated from correct answers goes to the bank so they cannot lose this. The more answers accumulated in a row the bigger the reward however a much bigger risk if someone gets a question wrong.
At the end of each round a player is to be evicted off. This is chosen by everyone picking a nomination. Whoever gets the most votes is eliminated off the show and the rounds start again but with less time on the clock. Whilst the beginning rounds start by people eliminating the people getting mainly incorrect answers, towards the end it is more of a strategy game to eliminate the smarter contestants making it an easy final. Once it gets down to two people it reaches the final where it is simply head to head. This is best out of 5 questions and then depending on the outcome, sudden death. Whoever wins this wins all money accumulated throughout the show.
It started off as a show which was fun to watch and join in with when watching it with the family. Everyone would be shouting out the answers throughout the rounds in the living room whilst the questions are easy in the first few rounds. As the round progress fewer questions would be answered due to the difficulty. However after 9 years it has just seemed to repeat on itself and seem to get rather boring. Now it seems to just be a program on the television rather than a program to actually watch. If i ever see it on now I just tend to turn over again. It's got to the point where I've just seen it way too much! Ann Robinson plays the same old 'be mean with a bad attitude' host every show and the contestants try to make a joke in every show making it just a repeat with new people.
The only times I will usually watch this program is when it is a celebrity edition. These can range from pantomime to Big Brother contestants to even general TV stars. There has been a huge variety of celebrity shows which do make it more fun but yet it feels rather set up.
All I can recommend is give it a go and see what you think. Maybe I'm just all burnt out from watching this.
Summary: Its just not for me anymore.
