Advantages: A great programme, gladatorial conflict with death by wits.

Disadvantages: You willbe copying Annie's "Goodbye" before you know it.

This show has been a love it or hate it among the dooyoo opinion lot, but you've all seen it and until recently it was only students and the unemployed (I have been a member of both groups recently) who had the chance to see it, so its obviously a winner.

The Weakest Link is a must see programme, a gladatorial fight with brains instead of brawn, and I think some bloodshed must be on its way. The idea is that you must be an individual in a team, getting your answers right, banking the money at the oportune moment, and then voting off whoever is letting the side down at the end of each round. If you are good, and Annie doesn't pick on you too much, you will get down to the final two where you pit your wits against the other victor. A penalty shoot-out of general knowledge ensues, and the victor takes the spoils, whilst the loser gets a smirking Anne Robinson saying "You are the weakest link and you go home with nothing, goodbye"

The losers of each round are interviewed and asked to speak about their opponents' decision to exclude them, and who they think will be the next to have Annie's now trademark "Goodbye" thrown at them and be made to walk the path of shame. In this respect it has been likened to Big Brother, but the team members must hold their cards up for all to see, so everyone knows whom voted for whom, leading to some revenge attacks and clever politics as the game goes on. As the players are so close together, you can see the teams within the team developing, and the fittest does not always survive.

You will find yourself shouting the answers at the TV, a la Millionaire, feeling so sorry for those who are whitewashed by having all of their opponents vote them off, you'll get your favourites who you want to stay, and your enemies who you pray to have hear "You are the weakest link, Goodbye". You'll feel pity for those who are thoroughly mocked by Anne Robinson's harsh tongue
, but be so glad when a certain few get her "Well you didn't do so well, did you?" treatment.

The weakest link is the best game show to spring onto the box since Millionaire, and a clever idea with an excellent hostess.

Beware Ms. Robinson's infectious "Goodbye", I'm sure that ours is not the only household to take off that half smile and tip of the head as we grin an au revoir to eachother.

This is a great programme, and I'd quit my job just to watch it every day (but that's easy to say when you're a dole-wallah).
