When the weakest link was first aired on British TV i watched it religiously. I loved Anne Robinson and her cruel put downs, she truly was great to watch. The show itself was a good idea, a twist on the normal quiz show, and the potential for big money. It was great watching people being voted off and doing the walk of shame, and occassionally a contestant would do a great post show interview. It was also great to watch when a contestant would answer Anne back, with a harsh/witty remark of their own. Also the show filled a void in day time television, where prior to the weakest link i would sleep or do some work.
The Weakest Link has been on for a while now, has a cult following, and the catchphrase 'you are the weakest link Goodbye' is huge. It has also made Anne Robinson a huge star, and has moved over the water for shows in America where it is just as big. However i for one have begun to grow tired of Anne Robinson and her now boring, stupid, un funny and sometimes way out of line comments. The writers for Anne's lines should be replaced with fresh blood. It seems every episode she comes out with the line 'drop the dummy' or 'who is a sandwich short of a picnic'. No longer is Anne witty, humerous or fun to watch.
Also it has become apparent that the producers and maybe Anne have realised her harshness is the secret to the shows success and they have started to play on this. Anne regularly crosses the line in her putdowns to her contestant, leaving me thinking if she'd have said it to me i would have punched her. An example of this was to an old man, i forget his name, for some reason Anne asked if he was married to which he replied 'I am to my third wife', Anne proceeded to say 'What, can't you keep a wife' for all she knows the man may have gone through a traumatic breakup, or perhaps his wife had died. I definitely did not think this was funny.

Anyway the show used to be good, but it is growin
g old now, and is becoming tedious. Perhaps new writers, or a whole new re vamp could get it back to the way it used to be. Thankyou for reading and goodbye (im not going to say goodbye you know what as that would quite simply be very sad of me).
