Advantages: General idea of the quiz is good

Disadvantages: Ann Robinson

I've always found Ann Robinson a particularly unpleasant and bad TV presenter but in The Weakest Link I think we get real insight into Ann's character.

My theory is Ann had a bad time when she was at school, picked on by teachers and class mates (perhaps for being ginger, I've noticed similar rude, arrogant personality traits and the desire to inflict their authority onto others in later life in other ginger celebrities, Chris Evans for example) and this is her chance for revenge! Or maybe she just has a strict school ma'am fantasy. I'll give you an example...

Ann to contestant: 'why did you vote for John as the Weakest link?'

Contestant: 'Well he got quite a lot of the questions wrong'

Ann: 'You didn't get too many right either did you?'

Contestant who is nervous and embarrassed laughs 'ha ha erm no'

Ann 'Why are you laughing? It's not funny is it?'

You almost expect this to be followed with, 'wipe that smile off your face and write 100 times, I must not laugh in class!'
Obviously the makers of this quiz are trying to create an atmosphere of tension and excitement by being quite serious, but Ann just ruins the whole thing by patronsing the contestants and treating them like school children! It makes me want to go on there just so I can answer her back!

I think it's a shame as I actually like the general idea of this quiz. I'm a big fan off quizes anyway and think The Weakest Link is better in many ways than other recent new ones, if I was to pick a quiz to go on I would probably try this one, the questions are easy but not embarrassingly so (eg family fortunes, noone with any self respect should even consider it), and you stand a good chance of winning because it's not always the best person that wins, but they'd have to get rid of Ann Robinson first!

I think this quiz could actually do we
ll in an evening slot and is more entertaining to watch than the new one ITV have have just started, I forget the name, people at home set the questions, £5000 for each question, great money, ok idea but sooooo boring to watch when you're not interested in their subjects. The Weakest Link is much more appealing to a wider audience but they really should change that presenter, send her back to school where she'd obviously feel much more at home handing out detentions!
