I am currently up to season 4 of the series and I have been hooked from the first episode.
The script is well written and always exciting, leaving you on edge at the end of every episode, a skill alot of other shows have yet to master.
Weeds stars Mary-Louise Parker as Nancy Botwin, a widowed housewife who has resorted to selling marijuana in the gated community of Agrestic, in order to provide for her two boys, Shane (Alexander Gould) and Silas (Hunter Parrish).
Through-out the series she comes up against different scenarios that you would expect most drug dealers go through, threats, robbing, blackmail but she somehow manages (sometimes in the nick of time) to overcomes these obstacles.
You sympathise with Nancy, who is just trying to protect her family while grieving for her husband. Alot of her decisions seem irrational but this is what makes the programme more thrilling and addictive.
It exposes communities that are thought to be pure and full of good, honest people to be just as corrupt as any sort of 'ghetto'. It mixes the scandal of Desperate Housewives with the humour of Arrested Development.
A nice little touch which makes each episode unique is the theme song 'Little Boxes' which is performed by various artists at the start of each episode.
Attention to such detail, such as and the gripping storylines made me want to watch another episode one after the other.
Summary: Housewife meets the the drug world.
