Where the Heart isNewest Review: ... Skelthwaite. It revolves round the nurses at the local clinic; their families; Goddard's factory and the local community. When the show started the two main nurses were Peggy Snow (Pam Ferris) and Ruth Goddard (Sarah Lancashire). Ruth was married to Peggy's brother Simon Goddard (Thomas Craig - who played Tommy Harris in Coronation Street). The show cover real-life stories and was the sort of show that could leave you feeling weepy. (Well - it did me!) It also has the Northern friendliness and sense of humour. Peggy Snow was killed in a tragic car accident. Ruth left Simon and Skelthwaite. Karen (Leslie Ash) and Anna (Leslie Dunlop) too... more |

I have watched “Where the Heart Is” from the very first episode, and after watching the last in the present series, last night, I have decided to write an Opinion on it. When it first started I wasn’t sure whether I would want to watch but I found that I really liked it and when my husband was doing split shifts I used to get the kids to bed and watch it whilst I did the Ironing. The series is set in the fictional village of Skelthwaite in Yorkshire and the scenery against which it is shot is breathtaking. The characters are varied and believable from the “snooty” Doctor to the hardworking factory workers and District ... Read the complete review

I don’t watch a great deal of television, but as l tend to be at home on Sunday nights l do watch this programme. It is a well-made easy flowing drama. Each week there is an easy flowing story based around the medical practice, that usually has a successful outcome to it. This is used as a base line for the development of the characters of the central members of the cast who appear each week. It is easy to watch programme, which seems to work well, in that it provides entertainment. It is well written and well acted and if you have nothing better to do for an hour, then there are worse programmes to watch. Location (or should that be locations) ... Read the complete review

This programme is based around a small community in Yorkshire, the main characters working in the medical profession. The whole feel of the show is very similar to Heartbeat, but fails to grasp rural life. The series is so depressing, The theme music has to be one of the worst on the TV and is just so unbelievably annoying and the characters are lifeless and boring. Unfortunately Leslie Ash looks completely lost, a fish out of water springs to mind. The most exciting storyline was when the Rugby Clubhouse was vandalized. Oh how exciting was that!!!! ... Sometimes nothing but a bit of slushy slush will do and Where the heart is provides you this in bucketfulls. Since Peggy died it has been a non stop rollercoaster of a ride (emotionally) but, since she and Ruth has gone the show had definatley picked up the pace again, and got a new lease of life. The programme centres around the village live of skelthwaite and especially the district nurses and there familys, as you would expect from Sunday night drama it has on going storylines and something new (that can be wrapped up in one episode each week, ie domestic violence). Nothing heart-stopping here, just a programme yuo can watch without having ... Read the complete review
