Advantages: entertaining, brilliant show

Disadvantages: sometimes boring

The show

Who wants to be a millionaire? was first shown here (Philippines) way back year 2000, it lasted for 2 years. The show is originally from the UK and has a lot of version in different countries. It is a quiz show that will test your IQ and your strategy on how to use your lifelines or help line. There's only 3 lifelines which is phone a friend,50-50 and ask the audience, 3 lifelines that is truly helpful for the contestants. Of course these are the old version lifelines and what I read is the show has so many changes. To make it more challenging, every correct answer the price money will increase, from 1000 pesos to a million. It is more confusing because they are multiple choice questions, but if ever you can just take the money if you don't really know the answer and you already used all your lifelines, because once you incorrectly answer the question you will go home with nothing. The most memorable phrase of the show is " Final Answer?", it's the question for the contestant whenever they have to give or lock down their answers. The show is so big that it became a PC game.

The Comeback

The show lasted only 2 years here and so many game shows has pop out that got its idea or maybe inspiration from the show. Of course not as identical as the show, but its like the trivia thing and the strategy style is totally the shows trademark. Now I think because of the movie Slumdog Millionaire and its big success the show will be back here. We don't know yet what are the changes are but base on its publicity it will offer a much bigger price.

Opinion

The show became really big here when it was introduced and like I've said it started the quiz show here, I honestly enjoyed watching the show. It's intellectually stimulating, not a typical game show that time. What I remember is, it's unique because they have this lifeline that will help the contestant answer the questions. Who wants to be a Millionaire? Revolutionize game shows, remember Wheel of fortune, Name That Tune and Family Feud, they are all old school game shows. These game shows are still good and entertaining, but Who Wants to be a Millionaire? change game shows into a more intellectual thing. But there's a tendency that it will bored you, specially the first few questions because it's like the easy round or the warm up round. The thing is sometimes the most basic questions are the hardest one to answer and those I think difficult are mostly the easiest. Right now I'm excited for its comeback, I want to see the changes and of course I want to hear again the phrase "Final answer?"

Summary: The comeback..
