Advantages: actually have intelligent people on the show!
Disadvantages: chris tarrent
Don't get me wrong, when this quiz show first started I loved it!! I couldn't miss an episode!! We would all be there yelling out how stupid people were not getting the really easy ones right!! You yell the answers at the tele (like they can hear you anyway), very frustrating! Then when it gets to the difficult ones your comments include, "well, who the hell would know that", making you look really stupid when they get it right. So, the object of the game, to win lots of money. Ten people start off and are given a question, four answers are provided and they have to put them in order, for example alpabetical, date etc. this question is usually quite easy. The fastet one wins and get to play the millionaire game. Each question is worth a different amount which builds up throughout the game. Four answers are given for each question and you have to choose the right one (obviously, it would be easy to choose the wrong one). The player will start with a £100 question, if they get it right they win £100. Next a £250 question and so on. If they answer a question wrong they loose all of the money! To start with, the player will get three lifelines: phone a friend: if the player doesn't know the answer he can choose a friend to phone and ask (I believe you have to make a list of people before the show!) They get 60 seconds to tell their friend the question and four answers and the friend can advise the correct answer, unless they are really stupid and then then just ummmmm and ahhhh for a minute. My advice is that as Einstein is dead and you can't befriend him, get some really clever friends. Ask the audience: all very well, but what if the audience have a combined IQ of 5??? They audience answer the question and the percentages are given to the player who has the final decision of the answer he/she chooses. 50/50: this takes two of the four answers away leaving you with only two. Usually this tak
es the two away that you were certain it wansn't leaving you no better off. These lifelines can only be used once by each person!! To help there are safe points (three I think)! Once you reach these points you won't win less than specified, eg. if you are on £2500 and you answer it wrong, the last safe point would be £1000 so you would still win £1000. The first few questions are very easy and people usually answer these very quickly. You get the occasional stupid person who can't add up or doesn't know who played Mary Poppins or what the Tin Man wanted in the Wizard of Oz but mostly they are quite intelligent. After that they start getting harder and you will need to have some intelligence about life in general!! Some questions are quite detailed on a subject so if you don't know much about movies for example, you will have to hope the friend you will phone or the audience do have some knowledge of films! What I do like about this quiz is that they don't choose the stuipidest people to join in. Most of the contestants (you get the occasional stupid one) are quite educated, more than me anyway. I would only end up with two quid I reckon. What I don't like is Chris Tarrent, he is sooooooooo annoying. It's like, get on with it forchrisake!!!! After the £1000 easy question mark he really drags out the program. After every question it's either, "are you sure", or "you don't want to change your mind??". I suppose he has to be like that really, after all, they don't want to pay out too much do they! I'm sure they could find even more annoying presenters, like Les Dennis, how annoying would that be?! We should count our blessings. There haven't been a great deal of people who have won a million, in fact, I think it's only one. I didn't watch that episode either, how typical is that! Anyway, I will be able to join in t
his game soon, Disneyworld Florida have built a Millionaire ride/show and everyone can join in. When I visit next year, I will try and win a million, if I do, I'll buy you all a Mickey Mouse. More than likely I'll get that two quid (or dollars!) I've been expecting!! On that note, I have run out of twiglets and need to get some more......

- 18/09/02 I agree with your first comment, brilliant show to begin with, I never missed a show, now I couldnt even tell you what night its on ... if in fact it is ???? |

- 05/09/02 I still like it, but I only watch occasionally. I think Chris Tarrant is great - really friendly, humourous and down-to-earth. |

- 05/09/02 Not a bad op, but there are a few bits missing to warrant a VU, the most important being how you apply to become a contestant. You might think I'm being picky too, but there were a few too many spelling mistakes in there... his name's Tarrant (that's with a capital T and an a rather than an e).
I quite like the show, although it did become a bit boring after a while. It needed a long break.
