Painful to watch. (Wife Swap (Channel 4))

Disadvantages: Bad in reality.

'Wife Swap'... where to begin.

Firstly I actually can't stand this program. I don't see the point of it, and when the majority of swaps just turn into a verbal fight at the end of the show it's hardly something I would call entertaining.

As in the name, the two wives swap families for a week... in the first few days the wives have to abide by the rules of the household and take on the role of the wife who they have swapped with - doing everything as she would. Then at the end of the week, the new wifes get to change the way things are done and try to make their mark on the family.

I'm yet to see a show where I can see the changes would actually remain once the wives have swapped back. It's a great idea if maybe the wives paid attention, and the husbands for that matter, however each household is stuck in their ways and isn't going to change because a stranger says so.

Through the program there is obvious conflict and at times I feel sorry for the individuals, because they are bullied into situations they are not comfortable with. Once a family who was vegetarian was asked to eat meat as part of the new wives input - WHAT?!?! Yes I can see maybe changing he chores around, but not something like this, it goes against everything they believe in.

I'll not be watching 'Wife Swap' again, but for those of you who like an uncomfortable hour long program of conflict and distress, enjoy!
