Newest Review: ... people were wishing for it to rain, what the state of the roof is. Especially as Wimbledon is only used for two weeks a year does a roof that is so expensive really have to be made. Well I guess whats done is done, and they may as well play night matches now as they have the facilities and it would add an extra edge to Wimbledon. Overall this is a great grandslam dominated by primarily two players. Maybe Murray will win it in future years, or maybe someone like Del Potro will, however Nadal and Federer are clearly a cut above the rest. Just to finish, I thought Roddick played a great tournaments, and he has definitely doubled his respect... more

Premium Review Wimbledon: Where Champions Are Made (1010 words)

Well this review is obviously on Wimbledon one of the grandslam tournaments and hence one of the four tournaments that tennis players dream about winning. This country has a fascination with seeing their own stars win wimbledon and hence it seems that the majority of the public that may not be into tennis seem to think tennis only exists for two weeks a year, when in fact there are three other tournaments as big as Wimbledon out there. The presenter of the show is Sue Barker, a former French Open champion, and the pundits are as followed. John Mcenroe: Well he was disliked as a player, however he gives a great analysis and a truthful non ...  Read the complete review

Wimbledon, in case you didn't already know, kicks off tomorrow! Rest assured that it's going to be TV tennis week in our house if I get my way. Starting from the 22nd June-5th July there's going to be a lot of frantic moments of glee and maybe misery depending on the outcome of each of the matches. It all starts at approximately 12pm with the 1st rounds to be played. With a total of I think 21 courts to choose from there's plenty of variety. Centre Court will obviously be the one which gets put on the telly (BBC 1 & 2) more often as that's where the more well known tennis players end up. This year they will start off with Roger Federer, Serena ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Wimbledon: Balls And Barker (913 words)

Another year, another Wimbledon. Henmaniacs are spending another year pondering what might have been after a disappointing exit. Just as last year, the Williams sisters bagged just under a million pound between them by bludgeoning anyone who dared stand in their way. And Sue Barker once again managed to detract attention from her difficulties in pronouncing the name of anyone within a thousand miles of the Iron Curtain by looking radiant in a variety of pastel-coloured suits. Like the Chelsea Flower Show, Big Brother and repeats of 'Murder She Wrote', you know it's summer when you hear the opening bars of Beeb's brassy Wimbledon theme music ...  Read the complete review

This is the only time during the year that I really get to see some high quality tennis on the television, and this year was no different. I am at work during the day, so the highlights package in the evening is great and I can keep on the progress of Tim and Greg. It shows the best bits of the match, last year Greg's match with Vince Spadea was so nervewrecking. The live coverage is very good, and they normally get 6 to 7 hours a day, as well as showing all the finals. This year i thought the two finals were brilliant, but my favourite bit was when they showed Mansour Bahrami playing in the Over 45's. He is just such a joy to watch and he had me cracking up ...  Read the complete review

Wimbledon: don't lose the rights (125 words)

I, think BBC 1 and BBC 2 do a brilliant job in covering Wimbledon, during it's two weeks duration. They try to show as many matches as they can, from both the doubles and singles matches. This year, they had John McEnroe and Pat Cash as their commentators and they were just brilliant to listen too. They made the commentary just so much exciting. Having played the game they could explain it better. Not to mention the odd humorous remark that John McEnroe made during his commentating. They always get behind the British players, and some how manage to get the whole nation interested in tennis for the two weeks it is on. I, think Sue Barker does very well in ...  Read the complete review
