The wombles seems to have been reborn as of late, used to be a cult programme in my younger days. Set on wimbledon common, the wombles live in a burrow or den and are furry animals who collect rubbish from around the common and find good uses for it. I dunno, kids these days are lucky! When I was a kid (in the 80's) I think we were treated to grainy 70's re-runs of The Wombles and they seemed so old, but those characters were cute and funny; you loved them.
