Advantages: Keep kids interest up yet is educational at the same time.
Disadvantages: Not enough episodes yet.
Wonder Pets is one of my 2 year old's favourite programs...and I have to admit, it's one of mine too!
It's a cutesy little show with 3 classroom pets who get up to adventures after the kids have gone home. Generally, there is some animal or other who needs rescuing.
The major theme of the show is Teamwork, teaching kids how working together can get more done that going it alone. A valuable lesson for kids to learn I think.
The show is animated, but uses photos mixed in as well (for example, the main characters are made up from photos) to give it quite a unique feel and features lots of music and song, including some VERY catchy little numbers.
There is a fair bit of humour in there as well, I think some aimed at adults to get them interested to watch with their kids. A prime example was the episode 'Wonderpets save the Beatles'.
That episode is by far my favourite and was about the Wonderpets rescuing a group of beatles....the insects....who just happened to be from Liverpool, play in a band and were trapped in a Yellow Submarine...just like the band.
That kind of theming has no relevance to kids, so I can only presume this show is made to keep parents interested while watching with their kids. And it works, as sad as it may sound, I love it as much as my son!
Summary: Colourful, great songs, great theme and something for adults too
