I have been aware of the novel Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte for many many years, but I'm ashamed to say that I've never sat down to read it. All I knew was it was about some sort of love story between Cathy and Heathcliff, over some moors somewhere... yes, a bit vague. When I saw that ITV were doing a dramatisation of the novel for August bank holiday, I immediately stuck it on my generic hard disk recorder. One of the BBC Radio 2 presenters the other day said he hadn't watched that new costume drama that ITV1 showed over the August Bank Holiday, because he reckoned over his lifetime he'd seen enough versions of Emily Bronte's 'Wuthering Heights' already, thanks very much. In many ways, you can see what he meant. 'Wuthering Heights' is such a famous book; Heathcliff and Cathy and their tale of obsessive passion and jealousy set on the Yorkshire Moors Back in Them Days - well, the story has been filmed for cinema and TV so often over the years that one could argue it kind of has already been done to death.
