OK- this review contains spoilers so if you, for any reason, have not seen this event yet, dont read this:) Now normally on WWF events we have to sit through a 3 minute music video, but No Way Out really caught me off-guard as it kicked off with the short graphic and the pyro went off straight away. Now imagine my suprise when the nWo came out straight away to a huge ovation from the crowd! They struck all their trademark poses before Kevin Nash took the mic and talked about how they were being portrayed unfairly as a poison and that hurt their feelings- funny stuff. Scott Hall then took the mic with his trademark "Hey Yo" which got a big pop. He said they were not bad people and wanted to be friendly with the 'boys' in the back and maybe even have a beer with them- an idea which was quickly vetoed by Hogan and Nash. Then Hulk Hogan took the mic to a tremendous ovation and said how he and the fans were not so different- well except for the money and fame:)- which had me laughing. He finished by saying God Bless Vince McMahon, the fans and America. This was steeped in sarcasm and avery entertaining and a historic way to kick off the show. The first match up was Tag Team Turmoil involving Scotty and Albert, Lance Storm and Christian, The Hardy Boyz, The Dudley Boyz, Billy and Chuck and The APA. For me this was a very hit and miss affair- with The Hardyz, Lance and Christian being the hits and the rest...well you know:) This came down to Billy and Chuck and The APA with the big lugs winning to bag a title shot at Wrestlemania X8. Not very deserving winners though. A real mesh of styles was up next as Rob Van Dam took on Goldust. Some stiff moves made this a very entertaining match for me- even though RVD had a slip up. Rob picked up the win after blasting The Bizarre One with a Five Star Frog Splash. The next match was for the WWF tag titles and pitted
the challengers Test and Booker T against current champs Spike Dudley and Tazz. The latter team just doesnt do it for me- I really thought they would have dropped the titles by now. This was an average match which ended when Tazz choked out Test with the Tazzmission. The tag title match will really suck unless the title changes in the next 3 and a half weeks. Next up we were treated to Edge- William Regal Round 376- this time Brass Knuckles On a Pole for the Intercontinental title. This was the same match they have always had over their 3 month feud- except with Pole Breaks. One highlight was Regals botched Powerbomb to the floor. Regal picked up the winner after clocking Edge with a different pair of brass knux. Lets hope thats it for that feud- but Edge does live in Toronto- home of WM X8- so chances are it is not :( Next up was a big match- Rock vs Undertaker and was quite good in my opinion. Chaotic unclean finish though- but what else would you expect in a WWF main event? After interference from Vince McMahon and Ric Flair, The Rock picked up the win. The next match was for the number 1 contendership- Triple H and Kurt Angle with Trips estranged wife Bouncy Stephanie McMahon. This was another chaotic screwjob fun- quite a good match- Kurt Angle pulled it out after whacking HHH with a chair. Just before the main event we saw a confrontation between The Rock and nWo- more funny stuff. Main Event time- Steve Austin against Chris Jericho for the Undisputed Championship- with the latter defending. A good way to end the show but very predictable. Good match-ref bump- nWo run in- Jericho wins. After the match the nWo run back in and destroy Austin. All in all a good show- historic- but I would like to see a clean finish in a PPV main event. All 3 at No Way Out were far from spotless, but there we go. The crowd were one of those who jsut die when the wrestling happens which always seems to drag the
show quality down. BEST MATCH- I'm going to be controversial and say Rob Van Dam vs Goldust WORST MATCH- Probably Tag Team Turmoil BEST MOMENT- All the nWo stuff. WORST MOMENT- The APA are going to Wrestlemania! Yeesh... Thanks for reading:)
