I didn't start watching Ally until part-way through season 2, mostly because it was advertised as another American sex-obsessed show. Around the start of season 2 I remember Channel 4 adverts playing on the introduction of character Nell Porter, and as the season unravelled it became slightly more intriguing. After a few episodes, I became hooked, and so the Ally obsession began. It wasn't until years later that I saw the seasons on dvd in W H Smiths, and every month or so they would reduce one of the seasons down to £9.99. That was how I came to own season 1, and discovered although I had already watched many of them, there were still a significant number of ... Read the complete review

Welcome to Ally's world. Ally McBeal is a young budding lawyer, after loosing her job in a law firm, and bumping into an old friend, Ally finds herself in a whole new environment; a new legal practice, working together with her ex, how ironic for Ally. Her love life has never been simple, and Billy is always there to lead a helping hand even if he is her ex. Cases within Ally Mcbeal usually take a light-hearted approach, adding to the humor and comedy appeal. I'm a huge fan of this series, not only for it's legal themes, but for the characters and interesting side stories. Ally is a character who you can't help but love, and always have empathy for ... Ever felt like nobody get's you, that sometimes you are a bit self obsessed, but still wish to please everyone. Then meet Ally. She'll make you feel like you are balanced, but then that isn't difficult. Ally Mcbeal is the brain child of David E Kelley (husband of one Miss Pfieffer) and stars Calista Flockhart as the title character, a 20 something fresh faced litigator who after being 'let go' from her job finds a place at law firm 'Cage & Fish' thanks to a chance meeting with Richard Fish. C&F are not your typical bunch of legal counsell! From the awkward but brilliant John Cage to the highly sexualised Legal Secretary/Assistant Elaine ... Read the complete review

Being male it might come as a shock when I say I love Ally Macbeal, albeit there's only certain things I like about it. First is the characters, they are so well developed, within a few minutes of meeting a character you know exactly how they will react to situations. The comic timing is impeccable and genuinely funny especially when they incorporate music into the humour. The incorporation of the legal battles is very intriguing and satisfies the academic part of my brain while the comedy takes care of the rest. Unfortunately these moments of genius are surrounded by overly sentimental, mushy romantic clichés meant for the female viewers. If you can take these scenes ... Read the complete review
