Brass Eye was British satire which spoofed news shows in general. It ran for one season of 6 episodes and one (amazing special on pedophilia - which received numerous complaints and indication of how fantastic the show is, in my eyes), from 1997 to 2001 (the special) and was created by and starring Chris Morris (I.T Crowd, The Day Today - who once broadcast on live radio that the queen had died and was quickly sacked) and was shown on channel 4 and run for about 25 minutes each episodes. The show has many actors you will recognize including Steve Coogan, with some of the best British comedy writers involved (Peter Baynham -I'm Alan Partridge; Graham Lineham - Father Ted).

The show is definitely not for the easily offended to say the least but if you like rubbish celebrities sprouting complete drivel for made up charities and sketches about mandrill's delivering drugs check this gem out.

The first season features the following episodes;
Animals - a ski jumper talks about Cow's being genetically bred to be a big ball of meat.
Drugs - a great scene has Morris asking a real drug dealer for made up drugs (until wisely he realizes things might get a bit messy); 'Triple-sod', 'Clarky-cat' and that he doesn't want to end up on a quack candle. Elsewhere Morris gets an MP to bring up made up drug 'cake' in to a parliament discussion. Classic
Science - 'a can of invisible lead soup' attacks some third world countries!
As well of episodes on Sex - Crime and Decline.

I wont go in to the pedophile special here (and boy is it special), because it might offend and I wouldn't want to spoil it if it sounds like your sense of humour.

It's a great DVD (not many extras here though and they are a bit rubbish too) but a great hard hitting comedy; Go buy!

Summary: A great show but probably only for the minority of people
