When I first heard of this show I was a bit sceptical, people with superpowers that's been done before. But this show isn't about superheroes this is about normal people who suddenly get powers after a solar eclipse. This season is all about introducing us to the characters. Life gets a lot more interesting for them when they realise they can do these amazing things but also that a psycho killer is killing people like them and also that New York city may be destroyed.

All the characters draw you in almost immediately which is impressive for a first series. I love the fact that all the characters are so different with Hiro and Ando the two Japanese to Claire the American cheerleader. Sylar whilst not being fully shown until half-way through is probably my favourite character and Zachary Quinto does a superb job of him. Another great character is Hiro who accepts his powers immediately and wants to save the world whilst the others are still coming to terms with their powers.

It's surprising how well the storyline keeps all the characters together so well and it never really gets confusing who's doing what. There are some really superb episodes in this season, which involve time travelling, but I won't spoil them.

This is probably the best debut season of a show that I've seen which is probably why the later seasons have been so disappointing. This is a must-buy for anyone but if you are a bit squeamish then you may want to think about leaving it.
