I loved the first and second series of Little Britain and occasionally stick them in my DVD player when I want to have a laugh and I feel starved of British Comedy, so I finally got a copy of the 3rd series on DVD for christmas and sat down yesterday and watched the entire series in one sitting ( its only about 3 hours, not bad really ) Little Britain started life as a BBC Radio 4 series and quickly transitioned to TV as its popularity soared, eventually finding a home on BBC Three ( for the first two series and then to BBC Two for the third Series ) , it was an instant smash with the various characters and their catchphrases finding their way into popular english culture very quickly and making Matt Lucas and David Walliams ( the shows creators ) instant stars and millionaires, you can't go into most stores or supermarkets without seeing some kind of Little Britain merchandise, especially the arguably most popular characters of the show , Lou and Andy, some might say that Matt Lucas and David Walliams have been selling out and attaching their name and creation to everything possible, and I say WHY NOT, its clearly not going to last forever so why not make the most of it while you can, which leads me to the conclusion I have after watching the 3rd series. To me it seems its lost alot of its originality and is relying on more base toilet humour and visual gags, Mrs Emery in particular is an old lady who is seemingly unaware that she suffers from terrible incontinence and ends up urinating everywhere which I know caused some controversy and after the 1st sketch loses its humour and is just the same thing over and over again, don't get me wrong there are still flashes of brilliance and alot of the original character situations are still funny, but it does seem like its lost its shine and they may be running out of ideas, I recently watched the "Little Britain Live" DVD and nowhere is it more apparent than in that show where it was frankly terrible and hardly raised a laugh out of me for the entire Hour it was on. If you're a fan of Little Britain and you own the first Two seasons then you should add this to your collection as it is genuinely funny in places, But I wouldn't expect the same quality of comedy you would expect, but its worth watching nonetheless, I just think that its time may be drawing to a close, unfortunately
The third and final series is released on DVD, Little Britain the multi award winning show has been running for four years. They have had three DVDs, 2 radio series and are currently on tour around the U.K. And they still have the live DVD to come out on November 13th. Little Britain is a fantastic program all round and this DVD is a nice little way to wrap up the package. *-*-* Disk 1 *-*- You may have guessed from the subtitle disk 1 there are 2 disks in this set. Disk 1 is the episodes and Disk 2 is the extras. This is disk 1 and on it all 6 episodes from the series. The series welcomed back the characters such as; Andy and Lou Yeah I know One of my favourite sketches from the program. Lou is Andys carer (hes disabled) well meant to be disabled everyone thinks hes disabled when hes not and often comes out of his wheelchair to get his own way. The best sketch of 2004 was Lou and Andy in the swimming pool and if you havent seen this then I suggest you do. Daffyd Thomas I am the only gay in the village in this series Daffyd carries on complaining how he is the only gay in the village. When actually there are loads of gays there. This is a sketch that you can guess the outcome but still makes you laugh. Vicky Pollard Yeah but no but yeah but shut up! I aint even done something or nothing! Vicky Pollard is a teenage girl who always gets away with wrong doings by talking a load of gibberish. Again this is predictable but still cracks you up. And so this is the disk with all of the episodes, this is the disk thats most important obviously but now lets move on to disk 2 *-*-* Disk 2 *-*-* On this disk are the extras such as; Little Britain Night Highlights There was a night on BBC which was dedicated to Little Britain, with top comedian Rob Brydon presenting this it was a laugh all it was is the series 3 with commentary but it was very funny and on here you can see the highlights. Deleted Scenes Stuff you dont see on the telly the extra scenes, there are a few very funny ones in here. Richard and Judy interview Well the title explain all, Matt Lucas and David Walliams were on the Richard and Judy show, this is the interview that was shown on telly. They are the main extras but there is also a radio show which is funny with new material and also David Walliams on top gear, with him and Clarkson together guaranteed to be a laugh and it is. *-*-* Conclusion *-*-* Matt Lucas and David Walliams have pulled off another sensational series. I bought this in tesco for 14.87 in my opinion a very good buy. The certificate is 15 and it runs for 171 mins. And its worth every minute of it. I hope you enjoy the series! Thanks for reading! The third series of the double-Bafta award-winning show, finds Matt Lucas and David Walliams bang on form. Bubbles is back - with some heavyweight competition from the woman who destroyed her marriage; Dudley's mail-order Thai bride arrives, but Ting Tong doesnt look quite as he remembered in the brochure? And there aint no ASBO to keep Vicky Pollard away especially when her gang are well the best dancers. Lou and Andy get into an awful kerfuffle over boob jobs and slow-drying patios; Florence and Emily tackle the very ladylike problem of facial hair; Dafydds new career as a rent boy proves a hit down the local mine and Anne appears on Stars in Their Eyes - as Celine Dion. Sebastian has the Prime Minister over a barrel - so to speak - and Carols new job at a travel agent finds a new computer with the same old response! With Tom Baker still giving great voice-over, Little Britain continues to hit the mark like no other comedy.
