      Very helpful

      Couldn't be better!

Oh yes, I am the proud owner of Sex and the City -The Complete Series. The box set featuring 94 yummy episodes, takes pride of place on the top shelf of my bookcase. I actually own the "shoebox" which is different in appearance to what can be seen in the picture above.

There's something magical about Sex and the City which began in 1998 and ran until 2004. It's utterly girly and decadent and I've even managed to convert my boyfriend into a huge fan, and the best part is, he's not ashamed to admit it even though he gets a lot of stick from his friends.

Set in New York City, the series follow the lives of four women who are best friends.

So lets meet these lovely ladies...

Carrie Bradshaw - Played by the fabulous Sarah Jessica Parker who does an absolutely fantastic job, they really could not have picked a better person for the role. Carrie is a writer who works for the New York Star writing a weekly column also called Sex and the City. Each episode is narrated by Carrie and focuses on what she is writing about that week. The material usually consists of issues dealing with men and sex, and during each episode, she researches her chosen topic. It's a tough decision, but Carrie is probably my favourite character. She is a fashion and shoe addict, much like myself! She is stylish and very girly and the outfits are amazing, although some of them can be a little off the wall.

Miranda Hobbes - Cynthia Nixon plays Miranda, a successful lawyer. Miranda isn't as fashion conscious as the others and comes across as a bit of a tomboy. I would describe her as the "Plain Jane" of the group because of her no-fuss outfits, minimal use of make up and sensible, somewhat boring hairstyles. She is skeptical about men and relationships and is the voice of reason when the others are in need of advice. She has a hard, no nonsense exterior but it becomes apparent during various parts of the series that underneath she is a real softie.

Charlotte York - Played by Kristin Davis, Charlotte who works in an art gallery is the prim and proper girl-next-door type. She is a hopeless romantic who still believes that true love really does exist and is always on the look-out for her night in shining armour. She is quite the prude, especially when listening to Samantha who can get quite graphic about her latest bit off fluff and various sexual encounters. She dreams of the perfect life, and wants nothing more than to meet a wonderful man to marry and have children with.

Samantha Jones - Kim Cattrall portrays the character of Samantha perfectly. At fourty-something, she is the oldest of the group who is always trying to conceal her age. Man-eater Samantha has a successful career in public relations and the series sees her organise many glamorous parties and events. Bold and beautiful, her style is all about glamour and bling, sometimes going over the top which makes her look quite tacky. Samantha does believe in love at all and is quite happy being single, with an entourage of men at her disposal.

Throughout the series the four friends lead very busy lives getting up to all sorts of mischief. They are always there for each other. We see many boyfriends come and go, leaving a trail of heartache in their wake.

You really get pulled in when watching this and soon get to know the characters and grow to love each and every one of them.

There are glittering, magical nights out in New York City and you really get a sense of the characters and their lives. After a while, they become your friends too.

If I could give this 10 stars I would!
