This series is just on channel 4 and E4 just now on tuesday nights. It is on channel 4 at 10pm and the next episode is on E4 straight after at 11pm. So far I've not found this series as funny as the rest, but it is still watchable. So what is the series about?
The main character is Frank Gallagher. He is on the dole and tend to play the typical dole scrounger. Totally unkempt, greasy long hair, same clothes most of the time, spends his benefits in the Local pub, called The Jocky. He lives on the Chatsworth housing estate. He has 7 kids and The kids mum Sheila had run away when the kids were little and decided she was a lesbian. She came back in series 4 and her and Frank got back together and have since had baby number 7. The kids range in age from about 25 year old to the baby and 4 of them live at home with Frank and Sheila.
This show is pretty funny in places, and although it is a 15 certificate it definitely should be that rating, as the language and other scenes can be quite graphic although you don't see much nudity. This show plays up to the stereotype of people on the dole such as trying to tap into the neighbours phone line, scrounging money off the kids for "lecky" and booze and just being a bit of a dosser.
I think the characters seem believeable, but I think the first 3rd series were funnier and I wonder if this is getting a bit played out.
Still entertaining, but perhaps shouls end soon.
Join the rabble from Chatsworth as they enter their 5th series!
Lip is off at uni in Nottingham, leaving girlfriend Mandy living with baby Katie at home in the Gallagher household.
This series concentrates on the wider Chatsworth community, entering the lives of the Maguire family, Yvonne and the 3 guys from the police living in a shared house, as well as spending time in the Jockey.
This show is funny and incredibley fun to watch. Much better for losing Frank's second "wife" Sheila at the end of season 4 this was definately one of my favourite series.
We follow the lives of all of Frank's kids through their ups and downs, and also Monica's pregnancy is the over arching story throughout the series.
We watched it on on demand and so it was easier to watch more than one episode at a time. It would be very easy to watch it all in a couple of days. I felt very much however that I didn't want it to end!
This programme deserves its 15 certificate, the language is fruity to say the least and the themes quite strong. I'd like to see what the outtakes are like and any extras on the DVD can only be hilarious!
