The Soprano's was ranked the second best TV drama of all time by TV GUIDE but I myself am yet to find a drama I have enjoyed as much as this one,it is gritty and realistic, and you really get to know the characters well as you watch through the episode's. The Sopranos - The Complete Collection (DVD): This is an offer you can't refuse (357 words)

Whether it was something to do with my age or that I missed the advertisements, I never really got into the Sopranos when it was first released in 1999 but years later when I caught repeats on television and invested in the box sets (shortly before season six was aired on T.V.). I watched at least one episode a day (probably closer to five or six a day of a weekend) such is the quality of the program and I have since watched the series' from start to finish two more times. The story follows Tony Soprano, a strong figure in a New York mafia 'mob' and how he juggles his life between his 'work' and his family. A married man with two children, Tony doesn't want ...  Read the complete review

This review was originally written by myself, here: http://www.empireonline.com/forum/tm.asp?m=2544521 The Sopranos follows a New Jersey mob boss (or 'waste management consultant,' as he often calls himself) as he juggles two families in his life. The DiMeo crime is failing to live up to the glorious days when his father ruled the roost whilst his home family generally give him stress, in particular his mother, who refuses to be sent to a care home. These factors, combined with his straining attempts to keep the two families separate from each other, lead Tony Soprano to seek therapy. This premise may not seem deep enough to justify its ...  Read the complete review

This is a review on the full box set of america's hit series the soprano's,a hard hitting television drama which center's around the life of New Jersey Italian mob boss Tony Soprano, his family and his criminal family also. In total there was 86 episodes of the soprano's made which makes up six series, starting in 1999 the soprano's was to finish with its last episode in 2007,it was produced by HBO,Chase films and Brad Grey Television. The soprano's is actually based on a very real crime family who operated in New Jersey and the filming was done in the same area this gang of criminals were active as even there meeting club was just around the corner ...  Read the complete review

Fantastic (329 words)

It's quite challenging to satisfingly summarise his box set, other than to say that it is absolutely amazing. The Sopranos is the flagship show from HBO that really established them as the Kings of gritty entertainment over the rather conservative and fluffy network offerings. It has also inspired a fair degree of popular culture while itself offering numerous references to the likes of The Godfather and Goodfellas. Set in New Jersey, the show's protagonist is mobster Tony Soprano (James Gandolfini), who attempts to juggle his mob life with his family life, with rather strange results. It depicts gangsters not simply as heartless men but as complex individuals ...  Read the complete review

The Sopranos - The Complete Collection (DVD): Up there with the Godfather and Goodfellas (230 words)

Some call the Sopranos the best TV show ever. I'm not sure that's accurate as I think it all depends on whether you like the genre. Undoubtedly the quality of the writing, production values and acting make this a very, very fine show and is certainly one of my favourites, but then I'm a bit fan of the genre. What sets this show apart from regular mafia pieces is that we don't just follow the mobsters and learn what it is like to lead a mafia lifestyle. Here we also get to see what affects their daily lives and their families. The main protagonist of the show is Tony Soprano, played by James Gandolfini, and it concentrates mainly on his ...  Read the complete review
