Advantages: Friendly atmosphere

Disadvantages: Adminstration

Your experience at Anglia Ruskin University (ARU) will depend upon which campus you attend, what subject you have taken and your overall out look on life.

ARU is not one campus but two: one of which is at Chelmsford which is mainly for nursing and buisness. Whereas Cambridge has science, english, art and film etc. Chelmsford is larger campus and itself is split into two areas with new buildings for both housing and teaching. Cambridge is an mixture of buildings although there are plans to knock down the worst of these soon and replace it with a very nice new one. The state of the housing at ARU is mixed depending on where you live from the below standard Nightingales to the well looked after Sedley Court.

The quality of teaching will depend upon whcih course you have undertaken obviously those subjects which ARU specialise in or are leading within that field, the teaching is above par. This include subjects like Forensic science, Optometry and English. However I have heard of some subject in which the teaching is aweful.

The lectures, the staff and those that i have met and studied with are all friendly. The lectures for Forensic science are leaders within there chosen field and thus ARU are regarded no1 in the country for Forensic science. the only problem i have had with the university is the adminstration (which is average at the best of times) and the IT dept as once every few months the computers are not working 100% (the IT help desk is great though).

I have spent four years here: one doing a foundation year (highly recomended if you either failed your A-levels or only just passed them as it teaches you the ability to learn in a university environment) and the past three undertaking a Bsc in Forensic science. Even though my colleges and i have studied Forensic science at the best place within the UK some of my colleges still moan and complain about the most trivial of things. Therefore i belive that each individual enjoys the university to which they go, differently thus this review can not say whether or not you will enjoy going to ARU only that i and the majority of my course has done.

Summary: A great universoty

Thank you very much for this review. I am going to AR in September to study English so to read up on it from a student's point of view. And Administration departments are shit at most unis tbh.

Welcome :)
