I am a student at Cardiff University at the moment, and still enjoy a good night out from time to time. In my first year I had a bar feet away from my room, and seemed to drink my student loan, as well as a good portion of any savings I may have had at the time. Cardiff city has a great night life, especially in comparison to Oxford where drinks are about twice the cost. The streets are packed with pubs, almost all of which are student friendly, although there are a couple of local pubs around that it would be wise to avoid. Cardiff city is the capitol of Wales! 'So what' you say? OK, let me re-phrase it. Everytime a band does a UK-tour, it goes to all the big cities of UK! Cardiff students' Union is the only big enough (uni) place to host such big events...so all the big bands stop at Cardiff. Cardiff is a big city, so there are plenty of things to do every night. But at the same time Cardiff is small, so you can walk to wherever you want to go. I'm a first year student at Cardiff University, and am having a fantastic time, not least because of the night life. There are so many pubs and clubs to choose from, and those are just the ones offering a student discount! My flatmates and I regularly go to several pubs in an evening depending on what kind of mood we're in and there really is something for everyone ranging from the bar in our halls, Talybont Social, to alternative clubs, from the old men's pubs (every town has at least one) to the union.
