Aside from the course, and if you choose to move to Newport - the place has a good nightlife that caters for everyone. A pint will set you back at £2.20. Newport has the most pubs per square mile than anywhere in the UK! It has 2 multiplex's, a UCG or UGC (I can never remember which way around)and a Metroplex. A good shopping centre, plus it's only 9 or 10 miles from Cardiff City centre. Cardiff has Chapter Arts House - they show a lot of Independent films and European Art House if you like that sort of thing.

Newport also has a large library held in the museum. The Museum features sections sections on the local Roman History (this place used to be the Roman fortress of Isca you know!) and apparently was going to be the new Rome as it's surrounded by seven hills. The Newport Leisure Centre hosts acts such as Craig David, Iron Maiden, Fun Lovin' Crims', Reef, the Stereophonics, even Bros has played here! It's got a swimming pool with a flume and wave machine to recreate that authentic Bristol Channel motion.
Athletic stadium, out of town shopping, excellent nightlife...Nightclubs everywhere, including TJ's, where Kurt Cobain proposed to Courtney Love...

The entertainment in Newport covers pretty much every facet of anything you could wish for...it's not Vegas, but it doesn't pretend to be either!
