I’m pretty sure that the last chap to write an opinion on DUSA works for in the entertainments department. So I’d take what he says with a pinch of salt.
As a third year at the University Of Dundee I feel I’ve had my fair share of drunken escapades at DUSA and indeed many of the other Uni unions in Scotland. The best part about DUSA is it’s ability to please everyone without compromising quality. This is to say that in my experience Glasgow’s “GU” is great if you happen to like cheesy pop but for anything else it’s a bit of a waste of time. DUSA has it’s fair share of pop nights don’t get me wrong, but if you, as I, happen to enjoy a bit of house music then DUSA is the place to be. “Do This Do That” is an internationally renowned club that has placed host to some of the best DJ’s in the world, is but one of DUSA’s attractions that I would care to mention.
As for drinks DUSA is on a par with most other university unions. I’m afraid that the drinks are of dubious quality. The pound a pint offer that is run occasionally only applies to Carlsberg and I’m pretty sure they water it down to the point that it is pretty unpleasant. I won’t even start on the lighter fuel vodka they sell suffice to say it’s great for degreasing your bike chain, and inducing hallucinations. However the Stella and Castlemain 4x isn’t bad.
I don’t recall any time in my whole life that I’ve had more fun than at DUSA. Lighter fuel alcohol or not it still gets you pi***d on a budget and that’s the idea. Especially if your just starting Uni then I’d wholeheartedly recommend DUSA. The atmosphere has to be experienced to be understood but that’s it’s best feature. You’ll understand when you get there.
