On campus, in the Student Union building, there is a downstairs bar and cafe called Smiths. Very nice food, and as with most unions, cheap booze. Upstairs, there is the Knox, another bar area. Very nice, regular quizzes etc - good fun. And also, the Union nightclub, Shafts! Here they hold theme evenings, parties, charity events, and have weekly attractions. It's cheap and near most of the local accommodation. Off campus, there are a number of local pubs/bars, from your traditional pub with pub grub, to a nightclub with dancefloor and events.
