Newest Review: ... drinks promos and a good friendly atmosphere, and are easy to get to. The room offers two areas for music but is predominantly indie/alternative and phat and funky beats, OK so the place isn't in the best state of repair, but it's still a good night out. The fez club is in a bit better shape and offers a good dance mix most of the night. Cheap drinks and plenty of scope for ladies and gents!!! Overall, The room - 6/10 and the Fez, 7/10 Wednesday - "The tower" - This place is big with first and second years and sports club outings, primarily because the drinks are so cheap. It's a pretty grotty place and the queues ar... more

It seems like there is a new bar/club or entertainment venue every month or so in Hull, which is great, because you never can get enough of the student lifestyle! I've been at Hull now for almost four years and quite simply, I am still not bored of the nights out on offer, now whether that's because there's so many of them or because they're so good I wouldn't like to say, but I expect it's a bit of a mix. If you take a typical week for example, every night has it's own place to go, wherther it be out in the town or actually in the university, lets start on Monday:- Monday - "The waterfront", mediyum sized club set on many ...  Read the complete review

Hull is dull - one often hears that as we mention which university we attend. Yet, here in Hull, life couldn't be better. Fairly big bands come here to play, only last year Toploader, the Bluetones, Terrorvision and Embrace played at the University. They're maybe not everybody's cup of tea, but they played and impressed many. Not only do bands come to the University, but there's also The Adelphi club and Hull Ice Arena (where Ocean Colour Scene will be playing). Hull is an amazing place to come to university. It's one of the cheapest places, accomodation and going out wise. Spiders, an alternative nightclub, boasts prices of just £1 for ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Bars & Entertainment: Pub Crawl Capital of Europe (548 words)

Hull has so many pubs and bars that you can distinguish separate pub "regions" within the city limits. For the sake of brevity I'll break them up into Old Town, Beverly Road and Miscellaneous. The Old Town is an area of narrow lanes and old buildings. A good first stop on your Old Town pub crawl is the Olde White Hart on Silver Street, the oldest pub in Hull. This is where the town dignitaries met and decided to refuse Charles I entry to the city (he'd already been barred from the student union for nicking pint glasses). They serve Theakston's Old Peculier on tap, and there are plenty of oaken beams and panelled walls as well, so ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review More booze than anywhere in the country! (187 words)

Over the last few years, the Hull University bars have been able to boast that they were the biggest single consumer of alcohol in the country! To be fair, this was in part due to the lack of decent pubs near campus, now no longer the case, but the quality of the union is the key factor. Unlike many Student Unions, the Hull Union owns its own building, which gives them much more flexibility. There are currently three bars in the union - one quiet bar, and two main bars, one of which is sometimes closed off for ticketed events, but there will always be one bar open normally. There is a standard choice of drinks, and the normal dirt cheap student prices, ...  Read the complete review
