Bars & EntertainmentNewest Review: ... to see at the end of a hard days’ work. On the positive side the drinks are cheap and the bar is well stocked. Prices are around £1.30 per pint. Now here is the downside. I you have read my review of the college you will know about the ‘social problems’ that being at Imperial carries. This is quite annoying really, as you are liable to find no-one down at Southside in the evening because everyone has their head glued to a book and doesn't want to come down and have some fun!. A wild night at Imperial college is considered to be a pint of something weekly alcoholic, and then into bed before 10.00pm!. But all this... more |

Southside bar is located beneath the halls of Tizard, Selkirk, and flmough keogh. The decor of the bar is drab to put it politely, and not the most inspiring thing to see at the end of a hard days’ work. On the positive side the drinks are cheap and the bar is well stocked. As a poor student, desperate to avoid work, living in the most expencive area in the country (you'd be hard pushed to find a dearer place than south Kensington) it can be difficult to find anywhere to go. The bar itself could do with a lick of paint and some new decor, but it doesn't really matter. The staff are friendly (probably because most of them do your course or live in your halls). Its not officially a student bar which means you can drag all you mates to bask in the cheapness. And to secify about the cheapness: a pint of Carlsberg cost only £1:32. Not only that but because the staff get fed up of sorting out the change, you often find a ... Read the complete review

There may only be a few sociable people at imperial college but on a Wednesday night those people come alive. The sporting teams pack out the union, spending all their hard-earned student loans on snakebite and black, slightly odd tasting largers and various concoctions of alcopops. The union its self is fine for the activities which take place on sports night, it has three functional bars with very friendly and helpful staff-who are always pleased to mixed your favourite drink with skill and precision. There is sometimes a cocktail bar upstairs which can service you with jugs of brightly coloured alcohol-these taste a bit odd but at £10 you can’t really ... Read the complete review

Located underneath Southside halls, Southside bar is about the same prices as the union - i.e. very cheap. However, I think its a much better place to drink. If you are or have been staying in Southside, you will already know this, as you probably live there <g> The other good thing about Southside is that it is not exclusively student. So for those of you who do have friends at other universities or who aren't in universities, you can bring them all along for a nice cheap drinking session. Also there is not as much as a crush as in the union, so you do actually have a chance of getting a seat. And on Sundays there is a quiz night, so ... Read the complete review

The Union, the main focus of most 1st years social life. Cheap drinks and cheesy music lure the same crowd back week after week (or night after night as it seems to become.....) Located on the main campus in South Ken, the union building contains 3 main bars, Da Vinci's, db's and the union bar. Da vinci's is a cafe style bar which also serves cocktails on some nights (although they are quite expensive....).Food is also available during the day, and is only OK. db's is where the dancefloor is and has a smaller bar. The union bar has a more traditional pub-style theme. Typical prices are £1.25 for a pint of Carslberg, and £2.10 for a double ... Read the complete review
