I am from Italy and was visiting the U.S. and went to matt's bar with my wife and a bunch of friends. The first problem was to find parking spots for 3 cars. After we managed to park and walk to the bar, we were able to sit in a couple of tables. The place was medium full (or medium empty heh) and we ordered the famous jucy lucys. The order was taking more than half and hour for only 3 burgers! The rest of us were having beer and cocktails for the girls. At Loughborough University, you are never short of a decent night out at the Union. There is something to suit everyone's taste and is a great way for freshers to meet new people and to get used to the average Loughbrough University students lifestyle. Monday ------ The week starts off with Shananagans. This is the games night. In the audotorium, there is Giant Connect-4 and Giant Jenga. There is also a round of Bingo with cash and beer prizes. There is a PS2 and an N64 set up as well for people to play on with a small variety of games to choose from. Loughborough University is a campus-based university and in theory there is no need too ever leave the campus in your entire University career. Many of the main halls of residence have a bar attached to them and the price of beer is very reasonable (student prices). There is also a very large Student Union building that contains four or five bars. The Friday Night Disco (FND) is arguably the highlight of the Unions weekly activities but every night has a different event on at the Union, ranging from a Cinema Size screen at the film club to a free band night. Oh my word! Very bright and lively on student nights or at the weekend. A favourite amongst those wishing to get lashed on the cheap! Tequila ridiculously cheap although I wouldn't advise the lemon and sugar from the bar as many an unwashed urine laden hand has probably passed over it! The place is very big with an upstairs that they open when it is busy. They also have two distinct rooms that play two extremes of music. One of the classic Loughborough institutions, Matts bar offers unrivalled seediness in what is actually a dive of a pub but still seems to pack the punters in. There are generally no rules in the pub and so by eight o'clock the wooden cover is laid over the pool table and the music turned up. Dancing on the tables, naked-ness and whatever else you can think of......you will see it all at Matts Bar. The drink is average but you get the added value of a free shot with most bottles bought and there are usually special offers on draughts too (you will get a pint for £1.50 most nights!).
