Advantages: Student Fun
Disadvantages: none
As written by blackjane the Pav is the only place you'd wanna go on a regular basis for a late night but there are other options! I used to work at the Sub Club a lesser known smaller venue on the Frederick Rd campus. The subbie as it's known tends to run a lot of the speciality nights like the Irish nights & wine appreciation nights (both of which are worth a visit)it's also available to hire for those entrepreneurs among you! Beer is the same & the same prices as the Pav & opening hours are similar but the subbie is open in the day (the Pav wasn't when I was there!) & not as regularly during the evenings! The sub club is a good source of employment for those living in Eddie Colman / John Lester but you have to get in early! The 3rd student option in Salford is the "Wally", The Wallness Tavern is an SU owned pub & runs exactly as you would expect from a pub! A favourite with the sports clubs after training the wally is quite small but does provide the "pub" atmosphere without the threat from the locals! It's placed down the lane from the sports centre & is kind of at a triangular centre between pell park campus, the Pav & the subbie. Prices are good here too so nothing to complain about there! Go down on friday night you might even catch some wet haired canoeists! Pints of bitter stood at about £1.30 a year ago where as Lager was about £1.65; this was similar in all 3 venues!
