“ Bath Spa University College is a medium-sized, friendly institution, with around 4200 students. It offers pre-degree study, undergraduate degrees and postgraduate degrees in a wide range of programmes. „
Bath Spa University, as it's now known, is a University known primarily for its highly appraised teacher training, but offers many post- and under-graduate courses in a wide variety of subjects (tending more towards the arts and social science). It has grown to accommodate 5,500 students over the last few years, and has its main campus at historic Newton Park just a few miles outside the City of Bath.
As a student, I studied Fine Art at the university's Art and Design campus at Sion Hill, literally at the top of the city. I would highly recommend any potential art and design students to look for student accommodation in nearby Park Street (which has plenty), unless you enjoy a steep walk in the mornings!
Of course, the experience of student life will vary according to the individual and the course, and its a good idea to find out as much as you can before you accept a place. I can only tell you that I was fortunate in choosing a course which was exactly what I wanted (a mainly practical-based course taught by artists). I felt well supported in my studies by tutors, staff and students alike, and there was a feeling of a small friendly community.
