Cornell University is in a beautiful setting however it is a very competitive place. It can be very "New York" in every sense. Cornell has a reputation as being "the easiest Ivy League to get into and the most difficult to get out of". Cornell can be very challenging. If you love the outdoors you'll LOVE Ithaca. Cornell University is set in the village of Ithaca in upstate New York (about 4 1/2 hours from NYC depending on how fast you can navigate rural roads). There is plenty of public transportation to/from NYC. The first thing one notices about Cornell, is the beautiful countryside. It sits atop hill overlooking Cayuga (Native Indian name) Lake. One of the Finger Lakes dotted with wineries and long stretches of hills. Ithaca also is surrounded by waterfalls and gorges making its slogan "Ithaca is Gorges" and it is.....
