Having studied with the O.U. before - during my nursing career and loved it (Systematic Approach to Nursing Care Course), I was inspired my a cyber- chum (Lamorna) to undertake the T171 Computer Course, in an effort to stop my one brain cell from shrivelling up.

My one brain-cell quivering in nervous anticipation of fodder, I rang up the O.U. contact in Brussels as I currently reside here, on a temporary basis.

I had a very motivational and inspirational chat with him about the course and its benefits, even contemplating going on to the next course, when T171 is finished.

Le - Crunch!!

Instead of the £200 (minus £40 or so tax relief), I noted in the O.U. literature, that I was being asked to pay £560 for the same course. I am furious and am now in a dither as to my next move. My place is being kept open until the 17th October, for me to make a decision.

I cannot work out here in my chosen and well loved profession (nurse), due to the fact French and Dutch are normally a pre-requisite, even to working in a shop equivalent of Superdrug!!

I really want to do this course as my brain is on a go slow these days. I love the Internet and its many facets and one day would possibly like to diversify into the I.T. field.
Would YOU pay this extortionate fee for the same course?
I simply cannot afford this Overseas quoted fee and feel very frustrated (I am actually a UK citizen).

The box underneath, re: recommending a friend, I most certainly WOULD, as T171 sounds like an excellent and well thought out course...lots of potential for the future.

signing off disgruntled and sending my one brain cell back into its box....

I was also going to do this course, but the bit I was interested in (the practical side) has now been cut and there is a lot more theory involved - so I am keeping ahold of my £200 and teaching myself!

This is the case for everyone living outside the UK. I was going to live in New Zealand with my NZ husband but as I'm in the middle of my OU degree, I could not possible afford it. You can however, have a UK address and get everything delivered and sent from there and pay UK prices, but this could prove difficult if posting TMA's and CMA's in time for a deadline!!

Exactly Sun Flower. It must be heavily subsidised here by Taxes, as the cost would be identical as it's all done on the net. It's such a shame as I know you'd love it.
