Advantages: Can do the hours you like.

Disadvantages: Expensive and have little support.

Was charged a lot of money for a few books and a DVD and just felt like a number on a conveyor belt without any study support. I passed W100 the law foundation course without any problems. After that I wanted to pass W200 and W201 so that I could have a Diploma in English Law, but it felt as if they passed me for W200 so they could have the money, then created lots of problems to make it difficult to pass W201. Three years is a long time to give up so much spare time to study, but as I didn't have any problems passing the previous years, I thought that just one more year to give up my spare time would be worth it, but couldn't have imagined the problems that would be created. At the end of the year, I had a letter to say there was something wrong with an assignment I had written six months before. When I asked why it would have taken so long to be told about this, I was told it was automatically picked up by the computer and I wasn't told because because of the high volume of students they have on their books. When I asked for my work to be remarked by another tutor, I was told that it's a long and complicated process and I had passed the time allowed to request this, but it was only a couple of weeks after the exam and a week after I had been informed there was something wrong with my assignment. I didn't have such problems with W100 and W200 so I didn't realise there wouldn't be many rights to complain if things did go wrong. I think things have gone downhill with the OU as it's over computerised and too money grabbing with little support.

Summary: Few rights to complain if things go wrong and just feel like a number on a computer.
