Advantages: Wide choice of courses, support and well-designed courses

Disadvantages: Cost

I have enrolled on a BSc Natural Sciences with Chemistry after a break from education for a couple of years.

I had dropped out of where I was studying full-time,due to lack of funds, but i still wanted to gain a decent qualification.

After working for a couple of years,I ordered an OU prospectus and decided to bite the bullet and apply.I told my employers and they agreed to sponsor me at a later date towards the cost of the course.

The whole application process is simple, fast and straightforward.I applied to do a introductory first year and was assigned a tutor.i recieved a huge amount of information;text books,CD-ROMS and a video.

The books included ones to help you with computing, and the whole thing seems as straightforward as can be.

Key concepts are introduced all the way through the course,it is well scheduled, and support is always there;whether it be by phone,e-mail or letter.

My experience so far has shown me that these days, with the threat of debt,it is the only sure way a mature student can get a qualification and money.Thoroughly recommended.

Great opinion. Im considering doing a BSc course with the OU (after my A-levels) purely because id ideally like to do a BSc Natural Sciences with Physics, although all conventional Uni's require maths A-level to do physics (im not doing maths)...would you recommend the course you're doing?
