Advantages: Nice campus, Good lecturers, Superb social scene

Disadvantages: High cost of living

When I joined Brookes it was my insurance offer from UCAS. I missed out on my first choice by just 2 UCAS points, but went to Brookes knowing it was an improving uni.

Now I've graduated I can see that it could've been a good move missing out on my 1st choice. I've learned so much across my field, met some fantastic people and seen some beautiful places while in Oxford, I'm even going back every weekend to stay in a band that I joined whle i was there.

Admittedly the halls weren't great, the older part of Crescent Hall was a bit dingy, but maybe this was because I was the only non-smoker, that kind of thing gives bad memories.

But the uni itself is worth reccomending. I think it's now been voted the best new university for the 6th year in a row, and is quickly climbing the overall tables, recently moving into the top 50. The lecturers are good and always happy to help, the social aspect is near faultless and there are more clubs and societies than you could ever need.

My only gripe would be the living cost of Oxford, but that's no fault of the university. The entrance grades are rising quickly, so get in while you can and earn a degree from what could soon be one of the best universites in the country.
