Advantages: Great Lecturers

Disadvantages: No social life

I cannot rate this institution highly enough. When applying for university Queen Mary's was my first choice. Unfortunately I got the grades except for the main grade I needed and did not get in. I tried very hard to be allowed in but unfortunately the admissions office repeatedly turned down my requests. I ended up going to Westminster University for my first year and this was not a pleasant experience.

After applying to transfer to Queen Mary's I joined the University in the second year and it is one of the best things I have ever done. The standard of teaching at the university is incredibly high with some world class Historians and Political lecturers there. The History Department is well known and ranks in the top 5 in the country most years. The Department is actually having a brand new building built as we speak, so that the size of the History Department can grow.

Not only is the standard of the teaching high, but classes are made fun by the lecturers and seminar teachers. You study with like-minded well educated students which makes the experience a whole lot better (Trust me, there is nothing worse than being in a class with un-motivated and not so bright students).

The University itself is only a short walk from Mile End Station. The station is a hub where the Central Line and District Line on the London Underground meet. The area isn't the best to stay in but it's cheap and has its own unique character.

Socially, QMUL is not the best university if you intend to spend three years partying. There is not much 'University Life'.

If you wish to get the best education, then QMUL is your best option.

Summary: A top institution
