Queen's University Belfast in generalNewest Review: ... affiliated with QUB, but a much smaller halls residence. I would highly recommend it as a place to live as the people are great, and the lifestyle is much calmer than that at Elms. Belfast is a great place to live, and really adds to the whole university experience. The city centre is a short walk away, and there are metro buses running very regularly if you dont fancy walking. The nightlife is very good as well with plenty of places for students to go out and enjoy themselves after a hard day of lectures. A special mention should go to the SU, it is a very modern building and contains practicalities like a shop and a pharmacy, as well a... more |

I started university last September, studying civil engineering, and really the location of QUB was the main reason for me deciding to go there. I live in Northern Ireland, so I can travel home every weekend to get my washing done etc. I have really enjoyed my first year, and have very few complaints about the university in general. I decided not to live in Elms, the main halls residence at QUB, but live in the COI centre, which is still affiliated with QUB, but a much smaller halls residence. I would highly recommend it as a place to live as the people are great, and the lifestyle is much calmer than that at Elms. Belfast is a great place to live, and really ... Read the complete review

If l sound bias in any way, please forgive me! I graduated from QUB in 1996 and tend to look back on my time spent there with through rose coloured glasses. The Queen’s University of Belfast can be found in Belfast City Centre – on University Street to be precise. It is set on an idyllic tree lined street and the main building (known as the Lanyon Building) is beautiful. It really is an architectural masterpiece! I remember enrolling for my first year and feeling really smug - l was attending this place that oozed with academia!! The main building was designed by Sir Charles Lanyon and was named after him also. It dates back to ... Read the complete review

I was under the opinion that the government was trying to find more nurses - with the people the nursing department of Queens have on their switchboard, and indeed in their main office, you wouldnt think so! They are ignorant and inconciderate. I phoned for information concerning entry requirements and paths that could be followed once I entered the nursing profession. I was told, in a 'not so nice' way, to go away and stop bothering them. How nice. As Im sure you can tell, I was NOT pleased with this and am NOT going to be applying to Queens University to follow a career in Nursing. I am sure the lecturers etc. are nice enough, but I was treated ... Read the complete review

Queens is a fairly good university with good facilities. Most of it's buildings are around the same area in Belfast, although they don't always seem that close when you have to walk between them. Being someone who doesn't drink I'm not in the union very often. However from the times I have been there I can say it's not a particularly nice building, it looks run down from the outside and not much better inside. Saying that it's still a popular destination for many students in the evenings. Plans have been drawn up for a new, much more modern looking union but it will be a few years before it's built. Queens has excellent ... Read the complete review

Queen's is quite a good university. I have had no real problems there so far. They buildings are all nice, it's in nice surroundings, as it is right beside Botanic Gardens, it is close to the Bush, a cafe which makes some of the finest chicken curry you'll ever taste. However, when it comes to exam time, it takes them forever to publish results and they come in dribs and drabs. I have been waiting for over a week now for the results of my resits and nothing has been forthcoming, not even any information. It has been the same with all my exams so far an it can be infuriating. The only other complaint would be that there aren't enough ... Read the complete review
