Advantages: Surrounding area is beautiful, Close to London

Disadvantages: Everything involving the university

I attended Richmond last year, and believe me it is not worth the almost $30,000 it costs to attend. This university doesn't even rank at the level of some community colleges-- I took classes in high school more challenging then what is offered at Richmond.

The student body is far from diverse. True people from a wealth of cultural backgrounds do attend, but if I did learn anything from my experience at Richmond it was that pretentious rich kids are the same worldwide. The student body cares more about supporting their drug habit then their academics.

The facilities are awful, often the showers are not functioning, the main building leaves much to be desired, and nothing is ever cleaned properly. Not only are the facilities poor, but the food is disgusting. If one is lucky enough to be placed in one of the satellite residences they may opt to be off the meal plan. However living in a satellite residence also has major downfalls, namely you have no way of contacting security (unless you have a mobile), and it takes longer for requested repairs to be made.

Further more the faculty, administration, and general employees of Richmond are well below the standards of any normal university. The administration is often lax on their duties, and never fulfill there promises. Over the semester break, several of my belongings were stolen from my room, though I was told they would be completely safe.
The university did little to help find my belongings, though the insurance did cover the monetary cost the sentimental value cannot be replaced. Continuing from there, security leaves much to be desired. Though some of the men are quite friendly and willing to help, most are grouchy and more willing to sit at their computers and play solitaire then to help out.

A good percentage of the professors at Richmond do not even hold there PhD- it?s no wonder considering even those with the highest status cannot teach a class to save their lives.

Bottom line? Horrible facilities and administration, a pretentious student body, and poor quality of professors make this university by far one the worst academic institutions around. Don?t waste you?re money.

Hi and welcome to dooyoo!

It does sound as if you wasted your money and did not get the type of education you wanted. You might have got a more rounded and better academic course by going to one of the British Universities. You know the old saying "When in Rome do as the Romans do".
