Advantages: Superb support, especially for beginners in the subject area

Disadvantages: None

DD100, An Introduction to the Social Sciences was the first full-length Open University course that I studied some four years ago. At the time, I had taken two short courses, but had little experience of higher education and undergraduate study. The courses produced by the Faculty of the Social Sciences at the University have been of a consistently high quality. The materials are varied and of an excellent quality. The tutors are knowledgeable and well educated with a good grasp of their subject knowledge. They are encouraging and supportive in every way, particularly as I find, for a learner new to such study. I hadn't studied any sociology courses before, but did not find DD100 a struggle as so much of the information is presented in the course materials. I will certainly explore courses from this faculty in the future, and will continue my studies with the Open University. High commended.

Summary: Whether you are new to the subject area or already knowledgeable then the staff are there to help
