Advantages: Friendly, cheap good facilities
Disadvantages: Hard to actually get on the team, not enough liason between 1's and 2's
Generally there are two teams, the 1's is run quite well, in general the best 12 or 13 players are fielded which is fair enough. The seconds unfortunately have so many players available (about 40 people regularly turn up to training at the beginning of the year) that it is a bit hit and miss. They can't play every player and making judgements on training nights is difficult.
We meet on wednesdays and thursday nights for 90 minutes each time on the astroturf (artificial) pitch. As value for money it's really good. You pay your £10 subs at the beginning of the year and everything is then free.
Training nights are well run, everyone is involved and all players are respected no matter what skill level. Things tend to be split into 1's and 2's and there is generally a warm up game, drills and then a game to finish.
A friendly club whose admin is looking up, if you're a hockey player or just want to try it out turn up and you'll be welcomed. A friendly crowd.
