Advantages: None
Disadvantages: Staff lie blatantly, Marking cannot be trusted, Some modules are very poor
Unfortunately, Staffordshire University degrees aren't worth the paper they're written on, because the standards of modules / marking varies dramatically, and staff cannot be trusted - check out this site to read more: http://staffsuni.freehosting.net/index.html As the above site shows, if you are not marked fairly by a lecturer, and can show this to be the case, Staffordshire University will refuse to investigate. They prefer to ignore all evidence, and lie blatantly and repeatedly, rather than consider that a lecturer may not have marked a student correctly. In particular, the fact that I was so routinely lied to by the University calls into question the integrity of several of the staff there.

- 20/10/05 could not be any more truthful. i had exactly the same experience. i had a big problme in that staff say to 'put across your own point of view, make it your own' i have done this on several occasions, and got bad marks with one particular lecturer going through my work and markin all of her comments that i took from my notes and her handouts correctly, and all my opinions incorrect. they also put an emphasise on not regurgatating your notes, but I decided to do exactly this for one piece of work, to test the water with her. it contained all her work, and guess wot! i got a gr8 mark. the uni isn't exactly nice though. it's handy if you want to live at home, but other than that, it isnt worth it. the buildings arent nice, toilets smell on a regular basis and the staff in the faculty receptions couldnt be any further from helpful. the library nees updating. its great for books that are now out of print, but i had a problem in that the whole of the 160 people on my course needed to read a chapter from a book. when we researched it, it was out of print and the library had only one copy. it was fun trying to get your hands on it, and needless to say, i wasn't able to get hold of it. no wonder no one turned up to the lecture on it! |
